the Acoustic Project (2010 – 2011)
In late 2010 I started thinking about how many folkish, singer/songwriter songs I have written that haven’t been recorded other than to get copyrighted, or how some of my other songs were actually written as simple singer/songwriter guitar arrangements at first, and how they’ve never been recorded that way.
You see, many of my recordings use a lot of recording tricks to make myself sound like a better musician than I am. Despite playing hundreds of gigs, just me and a guitar, I’m not so confident working this way. Though, I do love to sing these songs of mine.
So, I challenged myself to record them, as many as I can by end of the year 2011. Here are the rules: I have to record them in one take. I can add effects or synths if I can do it with my feet while playing and singing. It just has to be live and in one take. Mistakes be damned. Shitty guitar playing be damned. I’ll make one exception: My song NOVEMBER has never been recorded, and there’s a small “badabababa” harmony I always wanted on there that I’m going to allow myself to add on the the take that plays by all of the aforementioned rules. Got it? Ha. You don’t even care. But thanks for indulging me.
Get ready for the shitty sounds of Sala-songs in their raw state!
